Stuart Ayres - Your Local Member for Penrith

Stage One upgrade works a major boost for Kingswood

Stage One of the planned upgrade works to Kingswood Station will occur over the next three months, Liberal Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres announced today.
"These works will provide a major boost to the facilities offered at Kingswood Station and include footpath widening, new bike shelters and improvements to drop-off points, bus stops and taxi zones on the northern side of the station." Mr Ayres said today.
"There are also a number of changes to parking and road safety which will streamline the flow of vehicles along the Great Western Highway.
"When local businesses were notified of the original works, a number of were concerned that median fencing would make it harder for customers to use the Great Western Highway to access their shops.
"Following a series of letters and phone calls we sent to the Minister and an ongoing dialogue with Penrith City Council, I am pleased to see the Transport Construction Authority have agreed to reduce the length of their proposed fence to 150 metres.
"This is a major win for the shopkeepers and local commuters. The upgrade works demonstrate that this government is getting on with the job of improving our transport facilities into the future."
Stage Two of the upgrade works is scheduled for completion next year and includes the creation of new parking spaces, provision of a second taxi zone, expanded awnings and improved lighting conditions at the commuter carpark.

Look forward to seeing you at the improved Kingswood Station.

I'd also like to thank the shop keepers at kingswood who by raising concerns with me has seen a number of positive ammendments to the original plan.

Stuart this funding was announced by John Robertson the then Minister for Transport and myself at the by election.
It came from lobbying I had made to upgrade Kingswood at the last Council election. A commitment I'm proud to say I kept.
To claim this is from your Government is deceitful.
Next you and Marise will be claiming credit for the new carpark at North Penrith.
When The new pedestrian and cycle bridge is built over the Nepean you can proudly put this down to you and credit deserved where it's due.But like Nepean Hospital upgrades they are from the previous Government Its shabby to claim credit for something you had nothing to do with
