$360,000 Available for National Park Tour Operators

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith has invited private tour companies operating in the Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, to apply for a share in the National Park and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Commercial Tour Operator Small Grant Program.
Stuart Ayres said there was $360,000 in funding available over two rounds to support tour operators improve existing or develop new nature and cultural tourism experiences.
“These grants will help draw more visitors to the Blue Mountains improve visitor experiences and build the local economy with a thriving eco-tourism market,” Stuart Ayres said.
Environment Minister Mark Speakman said he wanted to provide new nature and cultural tourism experiences to support small park tourism operators and grow tourism in national parks.
“This program supports the contribution tourism makes to the NSW economy and promotes NSW’s world class visitor experiences,” Mr Speakman said.
Under this program, eco-pass tour operators need to match the funding approved for any successful application. NPWS already licenses about 200 commercial operators, to provide visitor experiences in national parks.
Applications under this program close on 30 June 2016.
