Cranebrook apprentice recognised for achievements

Liberal Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres has succeeded in forcing change at Nepean Hospital after a number of acting nurse positions were recently made permanent. Many nurses at Penrith-Nepean Hospital had been appointed to 'acting' positions instead of being employed in that position on a full time basis. Some nurses had been 'acting' in these positions for many years.

Stuart Ayres celebrates local business

In Parliament today Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres congratulated the businesses of Penrith and the Lower Mountains for their commitment to the local community, which was recognised at the recent Suncorp Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence.    ''I was proud to be at the Awards when a Penrith business, O-I Glass, took away two awards, for excellence in contributing to the environment and in developing an export market,'' Mr Ayres said.

Minister Firth ignores the needs of Nepean High

   After meeting with parents and students from Nepean High School this morning, Liberal Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres and Shadow Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli have slammed the Keneally Labor Government for ignoring the school's needs as a creative and performing arts high school.  "It is quite clear that the state government is ashamed of how they have underfunded the performing arts needs of Nepean High School." Mr Ayres said today.  
Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres is concerned the Keneally Labor Government is deliberately withholding key monthly hospital performance reports for Nepean Hospital because the results will expose State Labor’s continued failure and incompetence in healthcare.  "The continued lack of transparency in health reporting is symptomatic of Labor's failure and incompetence," Mr Ayres said.

Penrith MP rolls up sleeves for small business

Liberal Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres will be joining more than 80 of his state and federal colleagues across New South Wales as they are put to work on the NSW Business Chamber’s annual Pollies for Small Business program.
Recent findings from two key reports into infrastructure and the performance of the New South Wales economy revealing that NSW is one of the poorest performing states in the country  will come as no surprise to residents living in Penrith and the lower mountains, Liberal Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres said today.
Liberal Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres took his place in State Parliament today and immediately began working for his community by raising Nepean Hospital staffing as an issue in Question Time. Mr Ayres asked his first question in State Parliament question time, directing it to Health Minister Carmel Tebbutt: “Given the regularly overcrowded waiting room at Nepean’s emergency department – and the fact that the majority of senior nurses at this important hospital are only Acting in their positions – will you agree to meet with me in Penrith and a delegation of Nepean nurses to resolve these issues?”
