Ayres Joins Call For More Disability Advocates

Liberal candidate for Penrith Stuart Ayres has joined the Shadow Minister for Disability Services Andrew Constance in calling on the Keneally Labor Government to fund two additional advocates at the Penrith Disabilities Resource Centre.

\”There are service gaps facing people with disabilities, their carers and families in Penrith due the failure of the Keneally Labor Government to invest in disability services,\” Mr Ayres said.

\”One such area is the provision of advocacy,\” he said.

\”I am working with the Shadow Minister Andrew Constance to fight for an improvement in supported accommodation, respite and advocacy services.\”

Mr Constance said the Penrith Disabilities Resource Centre is stretched beyond capacity and they need an additional two advocates to support people with disability.

\”I am calling on the Keneally Labor Government to make the funds available through the Stronger Together program and appoint the advocates,\” Mr Constance said.

\”People with disability need the assistance of advocates be it with housing, transport and organisations such as Centrelink and the NSW Department of Disabilities,\” he said.

\”Labor has walked away from caring in Penrith and its time to start the change.

\”Having visited the Penrith Disabilities Resource Centre I can commit the Liberals to funding additional advocacy services in Penrith.”

\”People with disabilities in Penrith deserve the support of advocates.”
