Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith joined Don Harwin MLC, Minister for the Arts to launch The Australian Ballets outdoor community program, Ballet under the Stars.

Ballet under the Stars is a free outdoor performance of world-class ballet in the beautiful surrounds of the Sydney International Regatta Centre that will be held on Saturday 4 November 2017.

The Australian Ballet will perform an excerpt from the magical and highly acclaimed production The Sleeping Beauty, with its fairies and wood nymphs, bluebirds and storybook characters all set against the stunning backdrop of the Penrith Lakes.

The company will also perform a selection of smaller works that will showcase the speed, athleticism, diversity and grace of the dancers.

“More people than ever before are soaking up the burgeoning arts and cultural scene in Western Sydney with tens of thousands of people set to flock to experience Ballet Under the Stars again right here in Penrith this November,” Stuart Ayres said.

“Last year’s Swan Lake performance was a thrilling success, attracting locals and visitors and showcasing the Penrith region.”

The NSW Government has committed significant funding to grow the artistic excellence of the region and invest in local Western Sydney talent and jobs at new and existing important arts facilities, including Penrith Performing & Visual Arts Ltd.

These centres present vibrant programs that draw upon the best of the region’s arts and culture to tell the stories of their communities.
