Improved Housing Options for Western Sydney

Tenants in need of safe, secure and affordable housing will soon receive the keys to their new home, following the completion of a 19-apartment complex in Kingswood.

Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Gareth Ward said the studio apartments, developed by Mission Australia, are close to education and employment opportunities as well as health, transport and shopping amenities.

“These new apartments will provide a safe home for vulnerable people, including people experiencing homelessness, older women, young people and women escaping domestic violence,” Mr Ward said.

“Not only will they have a secure place to live, they will receive tailored support to help them get back on their feet and live independently.”

Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres said the project will increase the supply of housing in the region and will support some of the community’s most vulnerable people.

“Western Sydney is bursting with opportunities for people whether it’s jobs or further education and training,” Mr Ayres said.

“This new complex will provide a stable base for people to become active members of our vibrant community.”

Mission Australia Housing Executive Chris Bratchford said the project would help reduce homelessness in Western Sydney by providing a boost to housing supply.

“We will work alongside each individual to ensure they live in a property that matches their needs. We will also connect them with services to support them through their housing journey, toward more sustainable, independent and long-term housing.”

The development was delivered as part of Mission Australia Housing’s commitments under the NSW Government’s Vested Assets Program, which supports community housing providers to increase the supply of social and affordable housing.

The program is on track to deliver an additional 1,300 social and affordable properties across NSW.
