Joh Dickens Recognised with a Local Woman Of the Year Award

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today presented Joh Dickens with a Local Woman of the Year Award in recognition of the significant support she has given to the Penrith community.

 

Stuart Ayres commended Joh on the achievement, acknowledging her hard work for the region. 

 

“Joh never hesitates to go above and beyond to serve and support the Penrith community with donations of her time and donations of floral arrangements and gift certificates.”

 

“I congratulate Joh on this well-deserved honour,” Stuart Ayres said.

 

“Joh continues to make a tremendous contribution to our community with an unflagging passion for making Penrith a better place.”

 

The Local Woman of the Year Awards is an annual program which recognises and celebrates the support women give to their local communities throughout NSW.

 

Joh has owned and operated her local floral business, Kingswood Florist & Creative Balloons for over 30 years. Joh is known throughout the local community for being a strong supporter of local businesses and not for profit organisations. Joh is a long-term supporter of numerous local charities and fundraisers including: Pink Up Penrith, OZWAC, Music for Life, Luke Priddis Foundation, The Haven – Women’s Shelter and International Women’s Day. She is an active member of the Penrith Rotary Club and is the incoming Vice President for 2021.  Joh has been heavily involved with industry groups within the floral community including Chairman of Interflora NSW ACT for 8 years and President of the Professional Florist Association for over 10 years. Joh is a member of the Penrith PCYC committee and is a former board member of the Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce.

 

Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor congratulated the state’s Local Woman of the Year Award recipients.

 

“These women are the backbone of their communities, volunteering their time and energy to make a positive difference,” she said.

 

“I would like to acknowledge their significant efforts to support their local communities and thank them for all the work they do.”

 

The Local Woman of the Year Awards are a way the NSW Government celebrates the achievements of women as part of International Women’s Day on March 8 2021.

 

The NSW Women of the Year Awards will be held at the International Convention Centre, Sydney on March 10, 2021.
