Major Boost for Nepean Hockey Association

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today announced that Nepean Hockey Associations application for a grant to build a new clubhouse has been successful.

 

“Nepean Hockey Association will receive $975,000 to build a new clubhouse that will include amenities, change rooms, canteen and a meeting room.”

 

Stuart Ayres said the grant is part of the NSW Government’s Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund, which aims to improve the quality and quantity of sports infrastructure.

 

“This is fantastic win for hockey participants across the Penrith region and Western Sydney.”

 

Mr Chris Eagleton, Nepean Hockey Association President said “This grant guarantees a top class facility for hockey in the Western Sydney region and will ensure we are able to continue growing and developing the next generation of hockey heroes in the Nepean Hockey Association.

 

“This major upgrade to our centre will ensure we have appropriate facilities to cater for all of our members and in particular our junior girls and women’s team as well as people of all abilities. We will be able to build a community base for hockey in the Penrith region for generations to come right in the heart of the new Caddens development.”

 

The grant is part of Round Two of the NSW Government’s Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund which has seen almost $40 million awarded to 22 projects across Greater Sydney to improve the quality and quantity of sports infrastructure.

 

The Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund is part of the $340 million Open Spaces and Greener Sydney initiative. The Fund encourages the development of multi-use, multi-purpose, shared and co-located facilities. During Round One 15 projects shared in $33.4 million.
