Hundreds of Kingswood families will benefit from the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government’s record investment in education, with construction of the major upgrade to Kingswood High School ready to begin.

Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres and Education Minister Rob Stokes today visited the school to announce that the contract for the construction works has been awarded to Project Coordination. When complete in Term 4 this year, the school community will benefit from a new, larger hall with modern facilities.

Mr Ayres said he was thrilled the upgrade was being delivered for the wonderful students, teachers and families of Kingswood High School.

“It’s been a pleasure working with the Kingswood High School Community on the design of the project and it’s incredibly exciting to see the contract for construction awarded,” Mr Ayres said.

“I say regularly, it’s about putting Penrith first and nothing is a higher priority than our local schools and hospital.”

Mr Stokes congratulated hardworking Local Member Stuart Ayres for delivering great outcomes for his community. The NSW Government’s record $6 billion school building program is already delivering a major upgrade to Penrith Public School and a new environmental education centre at Penrith Lakes in addition to this upgrade to Kingswood High School.

Mr Ayres said he was thrilled that his strong advocacy for Penrith families has also enabled him to secure the following new projects to upgrade even more local schools, including:

  • A new learning centre for Cranebrook High School
  • A new multipurpose hall for Nepean Creative and Performing Arts High School
  • A new multipurpose hall for Jamison High School
  • Upgraded library and administration building for Lapstone Public School

Mr Stokes said these projects demonstrate how the NSW Government is delivering the school resources local students and their families deserve.

“We want our children to have the best opportunities and providing high-quality school facilities is essential,” Mr Stokes said.

Mr Stokes said the Liberal & National Government’s record investment in schools was in stark contrast to Labor’s.

“The last time Labor was in power, they shut down 90 schools, resulting in a loss of more than 500 classrooms and 2000 student places.”

In addition to the record-breaking school building program, the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government has committed an unprecedented investment to eliminate the school maintenance backlog so that every public school in the State provides the world-class facilities that our students and teachers deserve.
