Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today called for nominations for the 2017 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards.

“Seniors help make our local Penrith region stronger and better,” Stuart Ayres said.

“The NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards are an opportunity to thank a senior for everything they do in the community.

“We are calling on people to nominate seniors who are making a real difference to the lives of those around them.”

Minister for Ageing Tanya Davies said seniors are valued and respected members of our community.

“Whether it is volunteering for a charity, lending a helping hand to a local sporting club or caring for a loved one, older Australians do so much to make our families and communities stronger,” Mrs Davies said.

The 2017 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards will celebrate seniors’ achievements in a range of categories, including business, environment, science, agriculture, health and wellbeing, learning and community service.

Nominations for the 2017 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards are open from Wednesday 15 February and close 5pm Wednesday 1 March. They will be presented as part of NSW Seniors Festival, held 3 – 12 March.

NSW Seniors Festival celebrates and acknowledges the important role that seniors play in our community. It is the largest festival for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere. An estimated 300,000 seniors are expected to attend more than 1,000 free and discounted events throughout the state during the festival.
