Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith joined Penrith Councillor Tricia Hitchen to announce a grant of $30,000 for Penrith City Council through the 2019 NSW Government’s Community Building Partnership program (CBP).

“Penrith City Council will use the funds to construct an accessible outdoor gym at Chapman Gardens that will offer free exercise equipment for local residents, students and local workers” said Stuart Ayres.

Clr Hitchen said this project will enhance and promote participation in health and fitness by all people of all ages and abilities.

The local community will be invited to help decide on the types of equipment to be installed.

Stuart Ayres also used the opportunity to announce that the 2020 NSW Government Community building Partnership Grant program is now open.

“This grassroots funding program directly helps local organisations to create more vibrant and inclusive environments with positive social and recreational outcomes for our community,” said Stuart Ayres

“If your organisation or club needs extra funding for infrastructure, such as playgrounds, accessible features, equipment or refurbishment, then I’d strongly encourage you to apply.”

“Take the time to prepare and submit your application so your community group doesn’t miss out on a share of $300,000.” said Stuart Ayres.

Now a decade old, the CBP Program has funded more than 13,800 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
