Penrith Seniors to Be Celebrated –

Seniors Festival 2020

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith is calling on Penrith residents to celebrate a local senior by nominating them for the 2020 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards.

Stuart Ayres said the awards acknowledge the contributions older people in the community make on a daily basis.

“The unique insights, abilities and experience that seniors contribute to our community is what helps make our area thrive, and this is one of the ways we can show our appreciation,” Stuart Ayres said.

“I encourage everyone to nominate a senior that makes a difference, whether it be a grandparent who supports the family, a volunteer that lends a helping hand, or an older person who advocates for the rights of others.”

The award winner/s will be announced in February 2020 as part of the NSW Seniors Festival.

Acting Minister for Seniors Geoff Lee said the awards not only showcase the positive impact seniors make within their communities but challenge ageist stereotypes about what older people can achieve.

“The NSW Government supports our seniors so they can lead active, social and fulfilling lives,” Mr Lee said.

“The 2020 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards recognise the skills and generosity of older people while encouraging other seniors to get involved and participate in their communities.”

The NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards were developed in 2014 to recognise and celebrate the achievements of seniors in their own communities across NSW.

Nominations for the Penrith 2020 NSW Seniors Local Achievement Awards are open from Monday, 16 December 2019 until Friday, 31 January 2020.
