Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today announced the Jane Street and Mulgoa Road infrastructure upgrade is moving ahead and today invites tenders to carry out the project.

Stuart Ayres said the Australian and NSW governments are funding the upgrade of the High Street, Mulgoa Road and Castlereagh Road intersections.

This is the first piece of work on the Mulgoa/Castlereagh Road widening.

“The government committed to upgrading this intersection and we are getting on with the job of delivering this vital infrastructure,” said Stuart Ayres.

“Along with better travel experience for road users, this upgrade will improve safety and boost efficiency for motorists travelling within and around the busy Penrith CBD.

Stuart Ayres said the upgrade includes demolishing and rebuilding of the Castlereagh Road rail overpass to allow for the road widening and improve flood immunity.

Prospective tenderers are required to lodge tenders by 2pm on Thursday 5 July 2018 via the E-Tender website.

The successful tenderer will be announced in later in 2018 with work expected to start in early 2019 and the upgrade open to traffic in late 2020, weather permitting.
