Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith encourages Penrith residents to nominate a volunteer making a real difference in the community, as part of the Premier’s Volunteer Recognition Program.

Stuart Ayres said the opening of nominations coincides with the start of National Volunteer Week, a time to recognise and celebrate our volunteers.

“Volunteers are involved in all aspects of life and all bring their unique skills, knowledge and experiences to help others,” Stuart Ayres said.

“The Premier’s Volunteer Recognition Program shows the appreciation and value we place on our generous volunteering community.”

In NSW, more than 2.1 million people volunteer, contributing 240 million hours of their time.

There are four categories open for nominations under the program, including:

  • People with a lifetime of volunteering experience – over 40 years
  • People with over 25 years of volunteering experience
  • Significant volunteering at any age; and
  • Student volunteering.

“We know our community is better off every time a person gives back and volunteers their time,” Stuart Ayres said.

Since 2015, 28,600 volunteers have been recognised under the program for their contributions.

The Premier’s Volunteer Recognition Program is a commitment under the NSW Government’s Volunteering Strategy 2016-2020.
