Stuart Ayres wins extra peak time trains for Penrith

Liberal Member for Penrith Stuart Ayres, at Penrith station this morning with Opposition Leader Barry O’Farrell, welcomed the NSW Liberals and Nationals commitment of five new peak services per day for Penrith.

”As a regular train commuter to Parliament House, I’ve felt the frustrations of the journey. I know that NSW Labor has been slowing the trains – a journey from Penrith is six minutes longer today than it was in 2004. That’s one hour longer spent in commuting each week,” Mr Ayres said.

”Barry O’Farrell’s decision to give an extra AM peak hour express train service each weekday, and two extra AM and two extra PM semi-express services per weekday is a great win for Penrith’s commuters.”

”Barry O’Farrell has been to Penrith many times now to speak to early morning commuters. He has looked at the timetable, and he has made a sensible, achievable, and responsible commitment that, if elected, a NSW Liberals and Nationals government will deliver these extra services.

”This will go a long way to restoring Penrith’s trust in train services, eroded by 16 years of undelivered promises from NSW Labor, without ever seeing a major project finished.

”Only the NSW Liberals and Nationals can be trusted to get our trains working again.”
