Supporting Local Projects

Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today announced a number of grants for the Penrith community through various funding programs including the Anzac Community Grants, NSW Seniors Festival Grants and Multicultural Community Support Grants.

 

“Often its smaller grants such as these that make a real difference to people and organisations in our local area,” said Stuart Ayres.

 

“These grants will go towards delivering important services, activities and events to our diverse community.”

 

Recipients include:

 

  • St Thomas Anglican Church Cranebrook $5,000 to start a program to provide weekly free food and care for vulnerable multicultural people and to host Saturday BBQS to build connections and break down cultural barriers.

 

  • ‍Museum of Fire Penrith $800 to host a special NSW Seniors Festival Day at the museum including heritage vehicle displays, fire safety demonstrations and a free morning tea.

 

  • Kingswood Public School $1,250 for their “In Poppy’s Field – Remembrance Garden” to remind students of the importance of showing respect for those who served in wartime efforts and to honour our past by commemorating our Anzacs.

 

  • City of Penrith RSL sub-Branch $1,200 for volunteer first aid training which will be of benefit when the volunteers visit and assist ageing veterans and widows suffering disabilities and importantly social isolation.

 

“While the NSW Government is getting on with delivering major projects, we also understand the importance of smaller local community projects,” added Stuart Ayres
