Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith today announced early work for an accessibility upgrade at Glenbrook Station is now underway.

“The NSW Government is getting on with the job of making Glenbrook Station accessible to all customers and I am delighted that early work, including setting up a site compound, has now started,” said Stuart Ayres.

“We promised a lift at Glenbrook, we consulted the community and now everyone can see us delivering it.”

“When completed, customers will benefit from a new lift, a new accessible kiss-and-ride area on Burfitt Parade, new ambulant and family toilets and upgrades to CCTV, wayfinding and lighting for improved safety and security.

“This work will make it so much easier for our less mobile customers, including those with a disability, limited mobility, parents and carers with prams and travellers with luggage, to access public transport.”

Major construction is scheduled to commence mid February and is expected to take around 12 months to complete. This will include excavation for the new lift pit as well as concrete work for the new walkway on Burfitt Parade.

The accessibility upgrade at Glenbrook Station has been made possible through the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program, an initiative to deliver safe, secure and accessible public transport infrastructure across the state.

More than $2 billion has been committed to the Transport Access Program since 2011, with more than 450 projects either completed or currently underway across NSW
